András Tóth
András Tóth was working at Hungarian Competition Authority from 2002 until 2007, where he was a senior case handler. His work mainly focused on matters involving telecommunications and media companies with respect to abuse of dominant position and merger control. He took part in numerous dawn raids, mainly in cartel investigations concerning the construction, IT, pharmaceutical and chemical industry.
He also worked as temporary national expert at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition in Brussels in 2005 as part of the European Competition Network Staff Exchange Program.
He spent four years as a fellow researcher at the Centre for Infocommunications Law of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute for Legal Studies, where he carried out scientific research in the field of telecommunication and media, particularly with respect to the significant market power; the regulation of cable television; the relationship between competition law and regulation, and the regulation consequences of digital switch over.
András Tóth joined White & Case in 2007 as a member of the telecommunications, IT, media, competition and regulated industries practice groups of the Budapest office. In 2008 he works at White & Case Brussels Office where he advises in European cartel and multijurisdictional merger cases.
Mr. Tóth published several articles on competition law. He also holds university lectures concerning competition law and regulation issues of media and telecommunication in Catholic University of Budapest and in University of Pécs. He is a member of Infocommunication and Law Journal’s editorial board and competition law columnist of jogiforum.hu.
